The Story

A rare chapter in the Ford GT programme.

This exceptional GT40 represents a rare chapter in the legendary Ford GT programme — a Tennant Panel monocoque chassis, hand-built from original Ford GT40 drawings and among the first three complete chassis kits shipped from Europe to the United States for final assembly.

The original owner of this chassis was Tim Ganskap, who, with Brian W., held original Ford GT40 blueprints used to guide construction. Tennant Panels in the UK faithfully reproduced these early monocoque chassis from those factory drawings, and the first three kits were sent to the U.S. as component sets. What sets this chassis further apart is that it was assembled by renowned, award-winning fabricator Kenny Thompson, using original Ford chassis jigs and Tim's blueprint set.

“As authentic and accurate a build as one could hope for outside of Ford Advanced Vehicles in period.”

The car first came to attention through Jay Cushman, who shared photographs of the completed monocoque and fitted body. Over several years, Tim sourced nearly every original or NOS component — from Holman & Moody auctions of the 1970s, from Cushman, and from fellow GT40 collectors holding surplus period parts.

After years of careful curation, Tim chose to pass the project on for completion. Its new steward, Alain Vinson, entrusted John Bergendahl of Prestige Racing with the final phase — assembling the car at last and making it part of the GT40 community.
